VIVAnews - Presidential adviser on Disaster Management and Social Aid, Andi Arief, said the number of refugees in Dieng Plateau, Central Java, reaches 603 following the rising activities of Dieng Volcano.
17 posts are prepared to accommodate the hundreds of refugees.
It was reported earlier that Geological Disaster Mitigation and Volcanology Center at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources raised the status of Dieng Volcano following the increasing earthquake intensities recorded around the area. It is feared that the tremors may triggered Timbang Crater to spew poisonous gas.
The authorities said that birds and plants are found dead within the distance of 500 meters off the crater.
