Nokia Optimistic over Digital Music Market

VIVAnews - Comes With Music service from Nokia marked the company's optimism over the digital music market in Indonesia.

Nokia Indonesia Country Manager Bob McDougall said yesterday, March 25, that, "Nokia has aggressively talked about the issue with the local industry and assured that local contents may be attached in the service. This is clearly emphasized with a fact that Comes With Music changes consumers' behavior in getting and enjoying music."

He viewed Indonesia as one of the countries worldwide having the largest Facebook users. "50 percent of them log in to Facebook through cellphones," he said.

Nokia Director of Connected Entertainment Tom Erskine has the similar optimism. "I've been observing Indonesia and see great enthusiasm toward music in the country either on the radio or TVs," he said.

In India, said Tom, the Comes With Music service is used by one million Nokia users while in Singapore 10 million songs have been downloaded.

As for Comes With Music Indonesia, Nokia teams up with 12 record labels like Aquarius Musikindo, E-Motion Entertainment, EMI Music, Indo Semar Sakti, Musica Studios, Pelangi Records, Sani Sentosa Abadi, Sony Music Entertainment, Trinity Optima Production, Universal Music Group, Virgo Ramayana Records, and Warner Music.

Three million songs are in store and ready to be downloaded free by Nokia X6 users for a year.

The downloaded songs are legal. "The service enables consumers to enjoy songs freely without having to worry about piracy or bad musical quality," Tom said.

Several digital music stores are available in Indonesia such as IM:Port, Digital Download Esia, and LangitMusik Telkomsel. However, Nokia claims that Comes With Music is the largest among them.
