VIVAnews - West Java province has been sitting at the top list of the trafficking victims since 2007.
Data of the Antitrafficking Women Movement showed that along 2007 and June 2008, at least 232 have been victimized.
"As we all know, the West Java Province is included one of the provinces with the highest number of trafficking victims," said State Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar, in Bandung today, May 25.
Linda explained that the 232 victims include children (28), babies (23) and women (181) which were mostly from Indramayu, Sukabumi, Cimahi, and Garut.
To deal with the trafficking issue, Linda expected that the provincial government would campaign more in an effort to protect people from trafficking.
"The provincial government also signs several MoU with such provinces as East Kalimantan, Riau Islands, North Sumatra, and West Kalimantan to cope with trafficking between islands," he said.
