VIVAnews - Two former professional footballers of Nigerian nationality were facing life sentence for smuggling two kilograms of meth. Austine Bosah Uchenna, 39, and Michael Onuorah, 24, once hired by some Indonesian clubs in the national premier league. The verdict was passed by the board of judges at the Denpasar District Court, Bali, today, Dec 13.
Budiono, legal adviser of both accused, said no demurrer would be proposed to the court. Meanwhile, chairing judge Istiningsih Rahayu decided to proceed with the court session next week.
The ex-footballers were arrested by the provincial customs and excises agency, Bali Police Department, and the National Police. Earlier, another meth dealer named Beverly Adtoon Fulache and Enny Maliani were captured snaking in two kilograms of meth through Bali Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, on July 13, 2010. Eny then admitted the smuggled meth was ordered by Uchenna and Onuorah.
