The brother of the Crown Prince Charles will also meet senior representatives from the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) and the British Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, as well as Indonesian and British companies at a number of events, including a meeting of the Alliance of Low Carbon Businesses in Indonesia and an Infrastructure Roundtable, to support the development of the bilateral trade relationship.
“The UK is firmly committed to strengthening further our excellent relationship with Indonesia. Expanding trade and investment is a key to achieving that," says Hatfull. According to the British Embassy, this will be Prince Andrew's second visit to Jakarta after March 2008.
Prince Andrew is the second son of The Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh. He has been assuming the role of the UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment since 2001, after serving for 22 years in the Royal Navy,
Working with Government, and in particular, UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), Prince Andrew’s role involves promoting the UK as an attractive inward investment destination for foreign investors; creating more positive business conditions for British businesses investing overseas; and helping UK companies export their products to emerging and established markets.
The Duke of York is not paid for his work, although some of the expenses of the Office of Special Representative are met by UKTI and the Department for Transport.
