VIVAnews - After denying the summons made by prosecutors twice, a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the Democratic Party, Djufri, finally managed to fill up the warrant of the West Sumatra High Attorney's Office.
Djufri was questioned as a suspect of corruption over land procurement issues during his terms as Bukittinggi Mayor, causing the state to lose Rp1,2 billion. The DPR member of Commission II was accompanied by five lawyers on Thursday.
Djufri was enquired by several prosecutors like Idial, Ronaldwin, Imme Kirana, and Chief Special Case Division, M Irsyad. .
According to spokesperson of West Sumatra High Attorney's Office, Ikhwan Ratsudi, it was the first interrogation aimed at Djufri since he was named suspect two years ago. “This is the first investigation [over Djufri] as a suspect, ” Ikhwan told VIVAnews.com
The investigation over Djufri is still in progress. Dujfri’s visit to West Sumatra High Attorney's Office was based on the request made by the suspect's lawyer. Earlier, second summons over Djufri was sent on April 28. He however could not afford to meet the call due to a preparation of working visit to India.
Djufri was named suspect on January, 9, 2009, when Sution Usman Adji was serving the office of West Sumatra Chief of High Attorneys. In addition to Djufri, the alleged corruption case was estimated to have cause losses over the government by Rp1.2 billion. Bukittinggi Regional Secretary, Khairul, was also alleged of being involved in the case.
Those two were held responsible for land procurement in the development of Bukittinggi parliamentary building as well as a parking lot owned by local Park Management Agency worth Rp3.7 billion in 2007.
