VIVAnews – Prosecutor Cirus Sinaga was scheduled to undergo his first trial today at Corruption Court, Jakarta. The trial started at 9am WIB (Indonesian Western Time), Monday, June 6, 2011.
“Pak Cirus will come. The trial will start at 9am,” Cirus’ lawyer Tumbur Simanjutak told VIVAnews.com. In this trial, the indictment of the case of Gayus Tambunan’s prosecution document forgery will be read out.
The alleged forgery was found out after Gayus Tambunan pointed out having received two different prosecutions in the case of embezzlement, money laundering and corruption against him. Out of the documents Gayus possessed, it was found that the they were sent via a facsimile machine in Junior Attorney General for General Case’s (Jampidum) office.
The first prosecution document, number R 431/E.3/Ep/02/2010 charges Gayus with a year imprisonment. Meanwhile, the second one, number R 455/E.3 Ep/02/2010 charges Gayus a year imprisonment with a year of probation.
Possessing the documents, Gayus admitted, was not free of cost. Gayus had to pay Haposan Rp5 billion for those documents to be handed to a person from the court. However, the amount was not enough. So Gayus had to pay US$50,000 more for altering Jampidum’s prosecution from a year imprisonment to a year of probation.
