Sri Mulyani Holds Talks with Xanana Gusmao

VIVAnews - Former Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Muliyani, now World Bank Managing Director, paid an official visit to Timor Leste and held a meeting with Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao on Thursday. She came to Dili to attend the International Transparency Conference. World Bank, she said, praised the success of Timor Leste especially in terms of economic growth.

During the meeting, Sri Mulyani told the PM that his administration has successfully reformed the government particularly regarding with state administration and financial systems.

Gusmao's spokesperson Antonio Ramos said in a release that said Sri Mulyani embraced Timor Leste for having development planning strategy for the next 20 years. "The long-term strategy is undoubtedly important because it contains concrete goals," said Mulyani as quoted by Antonio.

According to Mulyani, the wealth deriving from oil and gas resources will continue spurring Timor Leste’s economy.

Ramos said the meeting between Gusmao and Sri Mulyani was also attended by other Timor Leste officials such as Deputy Prime Minister Jose Luis Guterres, Finance Minister Emilia Pires and the State Secretary of the Council of Ministers.
