VIVAnews – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Indonesian government will make available technical assistance to help the government develop infrastructure projects through the partnership between the government and private sector (KPS).

The technical assistance worth US$500,000 (Rp4.4 billion) was provided by the Japanese government through the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR).

The technical assistance will promote profitable KPS projects to the government.

“The technical assistance will boost the government’s capacity in developing, implementing and monitoring projects under the cooperation between the government and private sector,” said ADB representative Bob Finlayson, today.

Following the 1998 economic crisis, several infrastructure projects were suspended. In order to make up for the setback, this year the government is raising US$140 billion of investment in infrastructure sector for the next five years. Around 60 percent of the investment comes from the private sector.

This assistance will be carried out this year in cooperation with the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) as the institution responsible for the technical assistance.
