VIVAnews - Giving up is not an option in Warjuki’s mind, the father of a female migrant worker, Tuti Tursilawati. Although his daughter is facing decapitation, Warjuki keeps on attempting to free his only daughter from Saudi Arabia’s executor.
The man from Cikeusik Village, Majalengka, West Java, is even willing to leave for Saudi Arabia. “We want to see our daughter’s condition,” he told VIVAnews, today.
“If we could meet the victim’s family, I would apologize directly for the freedom of my child,” he said. Tuti’s fate depends on the victim’s family. However, since the victim’s family is a powerful tribe in Saudi Arabia, Warjuki may find it a hassle.
Warjuki said that until the afternoon of November 10, there is still no certainty about Tuti’s fate: has she been forgiven, or would she still be executed? “So I beg you please, the government and DPR, to free our daughter.”
“I am not giving up yet, I want my daughter to come home safely,” he said.
This morning, Warjuki and his wife, Iti Sarmini walked up to the parliamentary complex to meet a member of the House of Representatives, Rieke Dyah Pitaloka. “We have arranged a meeting. We are asking the House of Representatives (DPR) to save our child and propose a request to go to Saudi Arabia,” he said.
Meanwhile, when met in a separate location, Rieke said that she will continue follow up Tuti’s case. “[We] will constantly push the government to save Tuti because there is no lawyer provided there. How could she win her case?” she said.
Rieke put emphasis on the death verdict as "nine of Tuti's rapists would only be sentenced to nine months. Tuti will be executed because she fought the rape,” Rieke added.
Tuti murdered her employer on Tuesday, May 11, in a defense against molestation. After hitting her employer with a wooden stick, Tuti ran away with her salary of 31,500 real Saudi and a wrist watch from her employer’s house. However, the man that she hoped would offer help trapped her. She then was raped by nine men.
