“Private jets in the IS have an average flight of 30-50 hours per month. We have an average of 75 hours per month, above the industry’s average,” said CEO of Enggang Air Service, Donnie Armand, as quoted by VIVAnews from CNBC.

Given the significant growth, many international jet manufacturers have considered Southeast Asian market as their new target.  Other than Southeast Asia, the manufacturers are also aiming at India’s and China’s markets.

Regional Sales Director Southeast Asia of Hawker Beechcraft, Pasha Saleh, said Indonesia is the strongest market in Southeast Asia region.

“It has been within the past 24 months and will continue in 2012. I think Indonesia will continue its lead in the region,” he said.

Vice President for Marketing and Sales of Asia Pacific of Embraer, Jose Costas, said along with Indonesia’s growing wealth, the topography of the nation is also a contributing factor of the development of private jet business.

“With more than 17,000 thousand islands spread over 3,000 miles, companies would need means of transportation that can transport their employees from the head office to the mining area,” said Costac.

Currently, the executives of mining companies, oil & gas companies and agricultural companies are the main users of these private jets.

“The demand is huge. Until now, the domestic airlines still can’t reach the remote areas,” said Costac.

Embraer, the 4th largest aircraft manufacturer, has sold at least 8 executive jets with price ranging from US$9.5 million to US$54 million.

Asia, as a whole, still has a relatively small private jets market compared to other parts of the world. However, this region has 16 percent of the total aircraft order within the next 10 years.
