Until Thursday, March 1, several gas stations in Papua are closed. Meanwhile, long lines are underway in 12 gas stations because the employees chose to serve buyers in phases.

The Distribution Manager of PT Pertamina’s Region VIII Maluku-Papua, Agus Dwi Jatmiko, said Jayapura is only supplied with 220 kiloliters of fuel, which can only fulfill customers for three days.

“We have to limit distribution to the gas stations,” he said in Jayapura.

Fuel shortage in Jayapura is caused by bad weather in Wayame, Maluku – the Fuel Terminal – to the waters of Papua in the past few days, thereby disrupting the fuel tanker transportation.

“We are still waiting for the fuel tanker to arrive,” he said.

PT Pertamina said the demand of diesel fuel in Jayapura Town, Jayapura Regency and Keerom Regency has reached 50 to 70 kiloliters per day. “The fuel supply in Jayapura also affected other regencies, because the supply for the surrounding areas is through Jayapura,” he said.
