VIVAnews – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested seven members of Riau’s House of Representatives, two officials of Youth & Sports Agency, and four officers of a private company in relation with the bribery case of local regulation preparation of the the National Sports Week (PON) in 2012 in Riau.
Ramli Sanur, one of the members of the House who was examined by KPK until 1.30 AM yesterday, said that he was questioned as a witness. “I was questioned on the local government regulation no.6 on the venue construction of a shooting range,” said Ramli Sanur on Wednesday.
The politician from Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN) said he was surprised when KPK intercepted him as he was leaving his office. “I was surprised because I didn’t know anything in the beginning,” said Ramli Sanur.
He denied his involvement in the gratification case of the venue construction of the shooting range which involved a contractor with Riau’s House of Representatives and Sports Agency.
Although he was released, there may be further quizzes ahead. “If they call me again, I will be ready to give statements,” he said.
Earlier, Chief of KPK’s Information & News Department, Priharsa Nugraha, revealed the chronology of the arrest. KPK made the decision based on a report. A team consisting of 10 officers was divided into two and headed to Riau a few days ago.
On Tuesday afternoon, KPK began picking up the suspects between 5 PM and 7 PM in various spots. The first arrest took place at the house of a Golkar politician (MFA). “From there, we arrested MFA and another three people from a private company in addition to RS, and two officials from the Sports Agency,” said Harsa.
Six members of Riau’s House of Representatives were arrested in their office. The last one arrested was RS (the man from the private company) in Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Riau. KPK seized evidence of Rp900 million cash – previously written as Rp800 million from the crime scene.
The seven House members arrested are AA, MFA, MD, TM, TA, II and RS. The Sports Agency officials are RR and ED. Meanwhile, from private company men are RS, BT, SW, and D.
It was informed that the two House members of the National Mandate Party are of the initials of AA and RS; MFA (Golkar Party); TA (Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle); TM (Democratic Party); MD (National Awakening Party); and II (Justice and Prosperous Party).
