VIVAnews – Minister of National Development Planning/Chairman of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Armida Alisjahbana, stated that a great deal of aids have been canceled following the delay in subsidized fuel price increase.
One major assistance that got delayed is the People’s Temporary Direct Aid (BLSM). Other aids such as public transportation compensation, village infrastructure, and cost unit improvement for family program are also called off.
Armida said the government also has its own village infrastructure program. However, the budget addition for this program in the 2012 Revised State Budget 2012 was aborted. On the other hand, the family program will be continued.
“In the 2012 Revised State Budget, if the fuel price is adjusted, the budget for the next nine months would be available. However, since it’s delayed, then the aid is canceled,” said Armida.
The similar issue also applies on the scholarship program for the poor, which should have been expanded further in the 2012 Revised State Budget.
"Because of the delay [in fuel price increase], the program got delayed, too,” Armida said.
Meanwhile, village aid program for 28,300 villages was also postponed. Had the fuel price been adjusted, one village would have received Rp250 million worth of funds channeled by the Ministry of Public Works.
