VIVAnews - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has yet to take any decision on the position of the Justice and Prosperous Party (PKS) in the coalition of parties. SBY has not indicated whether or not to sack PKS’ ministers as a result of their objection against the government's policy on fuel price rise.
“There’s no information yet. It’s the President’s prerogative right,” said a member of Democratic Party’s Advisory Board, Achmad Mubarok to VIVAnews.
Three ministers from PKS are still in office, but always left out every time the coalition holds a meeting.
The three ministers are the Tifatul Sembiring (Minister of Communications & Information), Suswono (Minister of Agriculture), and Salim Segaf Al-Jufri (Minister of Social Affairs).
According to Mubarok, the Indonesian president will not likely to dismiss all PKS ministers. Chances are the number of PKS’ ministers will be reduced. “It’s impossible to make drastic reshuffle,” he said.
If SBY decides on making estreme reshuffle, then the issue of the ministers’ termination will be used by PKS to destabilize the government. “That’s what PKS wants,” he said, "“to make it as if they were wronged. They will use that later to discredit SBY and the Democrats.”
The Democratic Party, said Mubarok, has never proposed anything regarding the reshuffle. However, he said he hoped that in the event of a reshuffle, the successors should be from professionals. “If I may suggest, the replacement shouldn’t be from a party,” he said.
The Democrats seemed to be preparing to look for coalition partner if PKS is going to be disbanded by SBY. The Democrats have proposed parliamentary coalition contract to Hanura and Gerindra.
