VIVAnews – Golkar Party (Functional Group Party)'s Advisory Council and Central Executive Board (DPP) have agreed to plan out winning of the party’s presidential candidate in the upcoming elections. However, in relation with the method of determining the candidate, DPP Golkar said the party will stick to the decision made during the National Leadership Meeting.
“Basically, DPP Golkar reported on the party’s progress within the past 2.5 years under the leadership of Bang Ical (Aburizal Bakrie) along with the political accomplishments achieved,” said Secretary General of Golkar, Idrus Marham, on Tuesday.
The achievements mentioned, said Idrus, included the improvement of the party’s and chairman’s electability as the presidential candidate as well as Golkar’s winning in the candidacy of local leaders in the local elections nationwide at 58 percent.
Meanwhile, Idrus continued, the Advisory Council delivered two letters which had previously been submitted, namely: recommendations and considerations on the implementation of Catur Sukses, and on the amendment of the Organization Manual No. 11. DPP Golkar discussed the letters in its daily board meeting on April 27 and in its plenary meeting on May 3.
“We have implemented some of the Advisory Council’s recommendations and considerations. We have adjusted some according to the existing mechanisms and rules of the party,” said Idrus.
Among the ‘mechanisms and rules’ mentioned namely: DPP Golkar subjects to the decision of the National Leadership Meeting as the second highest forum in the party after the National Congress, “where we have come to the conclusion to implement the decision of the Second National Leadership Meeting from which a ruling to conduct the Third National Leadership Meeting in support of Aburizal Bakrie as the coming presidential candidate to be set up in June was issued,” said Idrus.
