VIVAnews – Chairman of Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), Abdul Haris Semendawai, said the team is still expecting the decision from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights on Mindo Rosalina Manulang’s status as justice collaborator.
Earlier, the agency has submitted a letter of recommendation for Rosa as a justice collaborator.
Moreover, said Semendawai, the LPSK has also obtained KPK’s approval in proposing remission rights and/or parole for Rosa to the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights on April 24.
“According to the provisions of Article 10 of Joint Regulation of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the AGO, the Indonesian Police, KPK and LPSK on Protection of Whistleblowers and Justice Collaborators, stated that a reward in the form of remission and or parole proposed by LPSK and/or KPK to the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights for further processing according to the existing regulations,” said Semendawai in a press statement received by VIVAnews on Monday, May 14.
Semendawai also confirmed that the recommendation is a part of a witness protection program for Rosa.
“Rosa is also a justice collaborator willing to cooperate with law enforcement. Moreover, Rosa holds an important role in revealing other corruption crimes,” he said.
Lili Pintauli Siregar, a member of LPSK responsible of Assistance, Compensation and Restitution Department, said that Rosa will still continue being questioned for other corruption cases handled by KPK.
“Rosa is still committed and will testify to reveal other corruption crimes handled by KPK as she is still under LPSK’s protection program,” said Lili.
According to Lili, Rosa’s status as a justice collaborator has met the qualifications required. Rosa has been an important witness in revealing the athletes’ accommodations bribery case and she has given significant and relevant statements in revealing a corruption crime.
“In giving her testimony, Rosa has been very cooperative with the law enforcement. She does not avoid and is very helpful towards the law enforcement in revealing corruption cases that she’s aware of,” she said.
The provisions of Article 6 of the Joint Regulation mentioned that a justice collaborator who is willing to cooperate is entitled to obtain physical and psychological protection, legal protection, special treatment as well as rewards.
Semendawai expected that a recommendation in the form of remission and/or parole can be granted as one of the rewards given to a justice collaborator.
“So it can motivate other justice collaborators to cooperate with law enforcement in providing important statement in order to solve corruption cases and to establish judicial process,” he said.
