Indonesia Dem's Politician Sentenced to Jail
Sumartono was proven guilty of committing corruption in a bribery case.

VIVAnews - The panel of judges of Semarang anti-corruption court sentenced a member of the city's House of Representatives (DPRD) with two years and six months in prison.
The man from Democratic Party Faction, Sumartono, was also fined Rp50 million and a subsidiary of five months in jail.
Panel of judges chaired by Ifa Sudewi said the convict Sumartono was proven guilty of committing corruption in the bribery case of 2012 Semarang State Budget.
Mustafa Kamal, Sumartono's lawyer, said the charges that prosecutors presented had not yet been proven as Semarang Mayor as key witness had never attended the court.
During the court session earlier, Sumartono got lighter verdict with five years of imprisonment and Rp200 million of fine with five months of subsidiary prison.
The case had also involved non-active regional secretary of Semarang, Ahmat Zaenuri, DPRD member Agung Purno Sarjono, and Mayor Soemarmo.
Ahmat Zaenuri was given 1.5 years of imprisonment for delivering Rp344 million of money to members of Semarang House of Representatives.
Soemarmo had been named suspect and being detained in Cipinang Penitentiary in Jakarta.
