VIVAnews – Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Andi Mallarangeng, instructed that the implementation of the construction of the national sports school and training education center (P3SON) in Hambalang, Sentul, Bogor, West Java, to be suspended temporarily.
The suspension followed the incident of soil subsidence in several construction areas.
“I instructed to suspend the construction on the subsiding areas so as to enable investigation and evaluation to take place,” he said on Wednesday, May 30.
The suspension, Andi went on to say, is also to provide room for the Supreme Audit (BPK) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to audit and look into the case.
Moreover, users’ security and convenience factors are also the reason behind the suspension of this Rp1.2 trillion project.
“In order to get further assurance, study on soil condition of the area must be conducted,” he said.
It was reported earlier that two buildings in Hambalang collapsed due to soil subsidence. The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs denied the news and stated that the land subsidence occurred only in several points.
“The buildings did not collapse. It is the land that has subsided,” said Secretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Yuli Mumpuni, to VIVAnews, on Monday.
