VIVAnews – Another China’s badminton players decided to cancel their participation in the Djarum Indonesia Open Super Series Premier (DIOSSP) 2012. Top doubles male badminton athletes, Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, drew back due to unexpected injury that Cai suffers.

As reported by DIOSPP’s official website, the confirmation of the athletes’ absence was obtained following a managerial meeting held in Hotel Sultan, Jakarta, on Monday.

The absence of Cai and Fu will surely ease off rivalry among doubles in gaining the title. In last year’s finals, Cai and Fu beat China's second-strings, Chai Biao and Guo Zhendong, in two straight games, 21-13 and 21-12.

Despite the calling off, Cai and Fu will still be in Jakarta as regulated by the World’s Badminton Federation (BFW), in relation with the top 10 super series premier players.

Cai and Fu's places in the draw will be replaced by the winners of the qualification round, Patipat Chalardchaleam and Nitiphon Puangpuapech.

Earlier, China’s second best male’s single, Lin Dan, had also announced his absence in the tournament as he would focus more on joining the coming 2012 Olympics.

Several other athletes have also resigned from the event, such as male’s doubles, Isaara and Jongjit Maneepong. They were injured after the Thailand Grand Prix Gold event last week.

Korea’s athlete, Ha Jung Eun, was also on the list of cancellation. An injury forced Ha Jung Eun to withdraw from the women’s doubles with Kim Min Jung, and mixed doubles with Lee Yong Dae.

Meanwhile, France’s woman’s single, Pi Hongyan has also withdrawn from the event. She was scheduled to play against Indonesia’s player, Adriyanti Firdasari, in the qualification round.

DIOSSP 2012 will be held in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Stadium, Senayan, starting between June 12 and June 17. This time, the annual event provides a total prize of US$650,000.
