Six Neglected Bills Discussed

VIVAnews - The House of Representatives (DPR) met the President today to discuss about six neglected Draft Bills. However, the Anti Corruption Court Draft Bill was not included in the discussion.

“The meeting was to review all of the Bills handled by House's special committees”, DPR Chairperson Agung Laksono said before attending a meeting at the presidential office, Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 27. “There were some issues that need to be discussed with the government”.

The Bills discussed included those on Transboundary Haze Pollution, State Finance, Military Court, Narcotics, Currency, and the Citizenship and Family Development.

Apparently, there were some challenges regarding the discussion. “For example, during the discussion on Narcotics Bill, there was a debate on the authority of the National Narcotics Board,” Laksono said.

DPR and the government are committed to complete the discussion before DPR’s 2004-2009 working period is over on 30 September 2009. Therefore, they would find the solutions together.
