VIVAnews - Prita Mulyasari will be brought before the court as regards the defamation case against Omni International Alam Sutera Hospital.
She will be against the indictment pressed by the attorney after the Banten High Court approved an appeal proposed by the prosecutors to annul the suspension of Prita case.
Prita will face multiple charges through Article 310 of Penal Code on defamation with 1.4 year of imprisonment; Article 311 of Penal Code on defamation in written form with four years of imprisonment; and Article 27 section 3 of Law on Electronic Information and Transaction with six years of imprisonment and a fine of Rp 1 billion.
The story began when she checked up of her health at the Omni Internasional Hospital on 7 August 2008. The laboratory result stated that her trombosit level was 27,000, far below the normal 200,000. As a result, she must admitted to the hospital.
Several days of being under medication in the hospital, her health did not improve. When the family requested for a verification, the doctor had instead delivered a revised blood test showing that her trombosit reached 181,000 without providing any written form from the laboratory. The doctor said Prita suffered from Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever.
Instead of gaining recovery, her neck was swollen. She then decided to move out to another hospital. At the second hospital, she was in fact diagnosed as suffering from goitre.
Therefore, Prita felt that the Omni Internasional had harmed her. The mother of two then wrote a complaining letter to his best friends through email. In an instant, unexpectedly, everyone could read the story in several mailing lists and blogs.
The management of the Omni Internasional was one of the reader. Upon the statement of disagreement, the hospital then sued the woman of defamation.
Prita was under custody on 13 May 2009. However, three weeks later, the judge suspended the detainment of Prita after the public and various governmental officials offered supports for her.
Nevertheless, the attorney proposed an appeal over the decision and was accepted.
