Philip Morris Adds Ownership in Sampoerna

VIVAnews - PT Philip Morris Indonesia added more shares in PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP). The majority shareholder in the company buys 6.1 million shares at Rp 8,575 per share.

Director of Philip Morris Indonesia Eulis Eliyani said in a written statement published by the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Tuesday, September 1, the transaction took place on August 28.

Through the share purchase, the share ownership percentage of Philip Morris in HM Sampoerna has become 98.18 percent from the previous 98.04 percent per July 31.

"The transaction was aimed at investment," said Eulis.

Earlier, HM Sampoerna planned to restructure its subsidiaries in line with the attempts to boost the company's performance.

The company will prepare sales, distribution and printing of cigarette pack.

Director of HM Sampoerna Yos Adiguna Ginting said HM Sampoerna's subsidiaries which will be restructured include PT Perusahaan Dagang dan Industri Panamas, PT Handal Logistik Nusantara, and PT Sampoerna Printpack, Sukorejo.

"The restructuring process should complete on January 1, 2010," he said.
