Foreign Movies to be Restricted

VIVAnews - The House of Representatives and the government approved the draft bill on motion picture. One of the agreed points is the restricted distribution of foreign movies.

"In the draft bill, 60 percent of Indonesian movie market should be covered by domestic production," said Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik on Monday, September 7.

"Foreign movies must not overcome our own movies," he said.

In addition, Wacik said people should not perceive the draft bill negatively due to the nearing termination of house members' office.

During his office, Wacik has attempted to legalize draft bill on motion picture and draft bill on tourism.
